CyCon 2015 Registration Now Open
Registration for the 7th International Conference on Cyber Conflict (CyCon) is now open on the www.cycon.org website. CyCon 2015, held in Tallinn, Estonia on May 26-29 focuses on architectures in cyberspace.
The annual NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence conference will focus on the construction of the Internet and its potential future development. The topic “Architectures in Cyberspace” - asks what cyberspace is and will be in the coming years as well as how it relates to cyber security. Issues debated will vary from technical to legal, strategy and policy. The pre-conference workshop day, 26 May, features a variety of policy discussions and technical trainings.
Speakers include Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves and General Jean-Paul Palomeros as well as numerous academics, industry leaders and cyber experts.
Discounted conference passes are available for students and government employees. Accredited media will have free access to the conference. Combine CyCon Conference and International Cyber Law Course
CyCon participants can get more out of their trip to Tallinn by combining the conference with the Centre’s International Law of Cyber Operations course taking place the week before CyCon.
The course, taking place on 18-22 May, is primarily designed for military and civilian legal advisors. It is also open to policy or technical experts who have a keen interest in the international law governing cyber operations. With nearly 200 prior students from 40 countries, the International Law of Cyber Operations course is the leading educational opportunity in the field.
Based on the “Tallinn Manual on the International Law applicable to Cyber Warfare” as well as its follow-on project Tallinn 2.0, the International Law of Cyber Operations course offers students a comprehensive overview of both peacetime international law and that governing armed conflicts as applied to cyber operations.

Call for Papers: CyCon 2015 Student Awards
Successful student works must be previously unpublished short papers providing an overview of a recent Master thesis in the field of cyber security. Students from various disciplines such as computer sciences, law and political sciences are invited to participate. Submissions will be evaluated based on their originality and significance to the conference’s theme “Architectures in Cyberspace”.
Submission deadline is March 27th. Best works will be presented and prizes awarded at CyCon 2015. The awards comprise of a free conference pass for all invited candidates and the following cash prizes (400-1000 euros) for the top student papers. Volunteer at CyCon 2015
Participate in NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence’s annual CyCon conference by volunteering.
The 7th International Conference on Cyber Conflict (CyCon 2015), held on 26-29 May 2015 in Tallinn, Estonia, will focus on the construction of the Internet and its potential future development. This year’s topic - “Architectures in Cyberspace” - asks what cyberspace is and will be in the coming years as well as what are its characteristics relevant for cyber security. Last year, CyCon 2014 brought together more than 500 experts from government, military, academia and the private sector from 40 nations.
Undergraduate and graduate student volunteers are invited to assist with the administration of the conference and in exchange will receive free conference registration, access to conference proceedings and will also be provided with meals and invited to take part in all social events. Student volunteers have the opportunity to hear and learn about the latest cyber trends and meet leading experts around the world while contributing to the success of this annual event.
Various volunteer roles will be available at CyCon 2015:
- Monitoring conference sessions and assisting speakers
- Assisting at the registration/welcome desk
- Checking badges during special events

CyCon 2014 Materials Available
Videos, presentations and proceedings from 6th International Conference on Cyber Conflict, CyCon 2014 are now freely available for the public on the conference website.
CyCon is the annual NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence conference where topics vary from technical to legal, strategy and policy issues. CyCon 2014 focused on active cyber defence, looking at the risks and benefits as well as the technical, strategic and legal implications.
