As the Head of International Relations, Aari is responsible for representing and supporting the Centre in all international activities, engaging with the Centre´s member states and other strategic partners. As part of her duties, the Head of International Relations is a member of the Directorate, assisting and advising the Director and the CCDCOE staff in all aspects of international cooperation and strategic communication.
Aari has more than 20 years of experience in international defence co-operation as well as in communication at the Estonian Ministry of Defence (MoD). Most recently, as the Director of International Co-operation Department, Aari was responsible for coordinating bilateral and regional political-military cooperation.
Prior to that, Aari worked in the MoD’s Public Affairs Department and was MoD’s spokesperson for cyber defence related issues, co-ordinating communication activities with other Government institutions. During the establishment of the NATO CCD COE in 2007-2008 she was the MoD POC for media, promoting the Centre with international partners and press.
Aari holds a MA in International Relations and European Studies from the Central European University in Budapest and a BScs in Psychology from the University of Tartu, she is a graduate of the Estonian School of Diplomacy.
