Today, Lieutenant Colonel Bernard Hoffmann handed over the position of Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) to Lieutenant Colonel Christoph Kühn.
LTC Hoffmann was thanked for his dedicated service and leadership, which contributed significantly to the development and effectiveness of the CCDCOE. His tenure was marked by a strong commitment to advancing member nations’ cyber defence capabilities and fostering international cooperation in this critical domain.
Tõnis Saar, Director of the NATO CCDCOE, expressed his appreciation: “LTC Hoffmann has played an invaluable role in strengthening our Centre. His professionalism and dedication have left a lasting impact, and we are deeply grateful for his service.”
LTC Christoph Kühn, who now assumes the role of Chief of Staff and Deputy Director, brings with him extensive experience in military leadership and cyber defence. “I am looking forward to be part of this amazing team. I thank LTC Hoffmann for the foundation he prepared and the experience and valuable recommendations he shared. I hope that the great team at CCDCOE supports me as they supported you,“ said Kühn.
LTC Christoph Kühn holds a master’s degree in computer science (1993) from the Bundeswehr University Munich and has since served in multiple positions within the information technology (IT) and cyber domains, including project management, system administration, and training.
For more than 13 years, he supported NATO’s system development, operations, and training by leading multinational civilian and military computer and information system (CIS) support teams. In 2012, he was deployed to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) HQ in Afghanistan, where he helped establish the ISAF Sector of the NCI Agency. His most recent assignments were as branch head at the Bundeswehr Cyber Security Operations Centre, where he was responsible first for the technical situational awareness picture and later for cyber risk management.
