NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) opens registration for the 10th anniversary Conference on Cyber Conflict, CyCon X taking place from 30 May to 1 June, 2018 at https://ccdcoe.org/cycon/.
The unique event focuses on the topic of maximising effects in the cyber realm. Keynote speakers in 2018 include both the current and former President of Estonia, H.E. Kersti Kaljulaid and H.E. Toomas Hendrik Ilves; Bruce Schneier, internationally acclaimed cryptographer and writer; Alex Stamos, Chief Security Officer of Facebook and many others.CyCon will look into how maximising effects can be achieved and what will the consequences be. How will AI, machine learning and big data help to maximise effects in cyberspace? How will international law develop in light of the serious effects of state-sponsored operations that may or may not be hard to attribute?
The effects generated through cyberspace, including new instabilities and vulnerabilities, will require new policies, legal frameworks and technological solutions to maximise security. CyCon seeks to address these and other current key issues, nearly 50 years after the birth of the Internet. The debates and presentations at the event will stem both from original research papers submitted by the academic community and insights offered by other renowned experts in the field.In partnership with Munich Security Conference (MSC) CCDCOE will host the Cyber Security Summit (CSS) in Tallinn on 29 May, 2018 on the eve of CyCon X.CyCon adheres to the highest standards in academic research.
Proceedings are released as an IEEE publication, contributing to the world’s foremost technical literature on electrical engineering, computer science and electronics. CyCon U.S. complements and broadens the reach of CyCon by promoting multidisciplinary cyber initiatives and furthering research and cooperation on cyber threats and opportunities.The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence is a NATO-accredited cyber defence hub focusing on research, training and exercises. The international military organisation based in Estonia currently includes 20 nations providing a 360-degree look at cyber defence, with expertise in the areas of technology, strategy, operations and law.
