CyCon 2017 Registration Now Open

Registration for CyCon 2017 is now open at www.cycon.org. Taking place in Tallinn from May 30th to June 2nd 2017, the 9th International Conference on Cyber Conflict will focus on the core aspects of cyber security.

CyCon 2017 will cover issues ranging from international cooperation and conflict in cyberspace to technical challenges and requirements, legal frameworks, regulations and standards under the topic Defending the Core. Confirmed keynote speakers include President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid, Katie Moussouris from Luta Security, Dr Brian Pierce from DARPA and Professor Mike Schmitt, the director of the Tallinn Manual 2.0 on the International Law Applicable to Cyber Operations.

CyCon 2017 recognises that digitalisation has both transformed and disrupted our way of life, bringing new security risks to technological dependencies together with its innumerable social and economic benefits. Each year, over 500 decision-makers and experts from government, academia and industry from all over the world gather to discuss the conference’s key themes from legal, technology and strategy perspectives, often in an interdisciplinary manner.

The questions addressed at CyCon 2017 will include: How can the ‘core’ elements of cyber security be defined? How do they relate to the essential assets and principles in the technical, legal and political spheres? How can the critical (information) infrastructure be protected? How can critical vulnerabilities be mitigated and the most detrimental threats countered? How can legal frameworks be established and applied to the realm of cyber security? What technologies can help nations to counter emerging cyber threats? How can effective cyber security strategies be developed and implemented? What should the role of the armed forces be? How can cyber operations against core (national) assets be deterred?

Registration and detailed information is available on www.cycon.org. Discounted conference passes are available for students and government employees.
