Estonian Defence League and the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence solidified their partnership by signing a cooperation agreement regarding the annual Locked Shields cyber defence exercise. Defence League members will enjoy increased access to Centre’s technical courses and workshops.
“We could not organize one of the largest cyber defence exercises in Europe without partners and volunteers. Cooperation with the Cyber Defence Unit of the Estonian Defence League has therefore become increasingly important,” said Colonel Artur Suzik, director of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. He emphasized that the Cyber Defence Unit has contributed to the annual exercise run by the centre since 2010.
“Our close cooperation will deepen even further,” said Andrus Padar, Chief of Estonian Defence League’s Cyber Unit. „Estonian Defence League has had a great opportunity to support the Centre and the Centre helps develop technical skills of our cyber reserve volunteers. Centre’s partner network is also a good way to share the Estonian experience of integrating volunteers into national cyber defence.”
The agreement commits Estonian Defence League to the annual Locked Shields exercise while the Centre offers increased access to training and workshops to Defence League members. The Cyber Unit of the Estonian Defence League is a volunteer organization to protect Estonian cyberspace. Cooperation between Estonian Defence League and the Centre goes back to 2010.
