Exercises that we support

The NATO CCDCOE contributes to NATO exercises by bringing realistic cyber-domain complexity into the broader Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) environment. Drawing on its unique combination of technical, operational, strategic and legal expertise, as well as experience from exercises such as Locked Shields and Crossed Swords, CCDCOE helps translate the realities of contested cyberspace into credible scenarios, storylines, injects and decision-making dilemmas for NATO training audiences.

NATO CCDCOE’s contribution is particularly valuable in connecting technical cyber effects with tactical, operational, strategic and political consequences, ensuring that cyber is not exercised as an isolated specialist function but as an integral element of joint and multi-domain operations. This directly supports NATO’s ambition for exercises to cover the full spectrum from technical to political levels and across land, maritime, air, cyber and space domains.

In this way, the Centre helps NATO exercises become more realistic, interconnected and operationally relevant, while providing a bridge between cyber specialists and commanders responsible for achieving effects across all domains.

Cyber Coalition

Cyber Coalition is NATO’s flagship annual collective cyber defence exercise and one of the largest in the world. It brings together NATO Bodies, NATO Allies, and Partners to strengthen the Alliance ability to deter, defend against, and counter threats in and through cyberspace in support of NATO’s core tasks by exercising collaboration and cyberspace operations, and providing input to NATO transformation. CCDCOE experts participate in the planning and execution of the exercise, contributing with operational/technical and legal storylines.
