30 May-2 Jun 2017
The 9th International Conference on Cyber Conflict will take place 31 May-2 June 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. 30 May is dedicated as the CyCon workshops day.
CyCon 2017 will focus on the ‘core’ aspects of cyber security. Taking place in Tallinn from the 30th May to the 2nd June 2017, it will cover issues ranging from international cooperation and conflict in cyberspace to technical challenges and requirements, legal frameworks, regulations and standards under the topic Defending the Core.
Each year, over 500 decision-makers and experts from government, academia and industry from all over the world approach the conference’s key themes from legal, technology and strategy perspectives, often in an interdisciplinary manner. CyCon 2017 recognises that digitalisation has both transformed and disrupted our way of life, bringing new security risks to technological dependencies together with its innumerable social and economic benefits.
The questions addressed at CyCon 2017 will include: How can the ‘core’ elements of cyber security be defined? How do they relate to the essential assets and principles in the technical, legal and political spheres? How can the critical (information) infrastructure be protected? How can critical vulnerabilities be mitigated and the most detrimental threats countered? How can legal frameworks be established and applied to the realm of cyber security? What technologies can help nations to counter emerging cyber threats? How can effective cyber security strategies be developed and implemented? What should the role of the armed forces be? How can cyber operations against core (national) assets be deterred?
