Elliott Atkins

Elliott Atkins is Head of Cyber Intelligence and Incident Response for QinetiQ, based in the UK. Elliott has worked for QinetiQ since January 2012, joining directly from GCHQ where he was Head of GovCertUK, the UK Government 24x7 Computer Emergency Response Team. In this role, Elliott led the team responsible for proactive and reactive response to successful cyber attacks against UK Government and industry networks.

In his current role he manages all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Cyber Intelligence, Incident Response and Penetration Testing teams within QinetiQ.

Automation in Cyber Incident Response – the future?
Can automation improve incident response? We’ve already automated intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems, but is there any merit in taking things one step further and automating the response to a successful cyber breach?

Drawing on over a decade of practical experience of running Government and commercial incident response teams, Elliott will hopefully be providing some food for thought in how technology may help (or hinder!) the cyber incident response lifecycle.
