President of Estonia visited the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence
President of the Republic of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves visited the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn. The head of state recognized the work of the CCDCOE thusfar and noted that the centre has a capable international team.
'It has to be noted that the CCDCOE is facing an intellectually challanging task: to find the balance between reacting to a conventional attack and a cyber attack carried out against a NATO nation' said the president.
The head of the CCDCOE Lieutenant Colonel Ilmar Tamm introduced to the president the team of the centre and the plans for 2009. During the visit the president discussed the latest threats in the field of cyber defence and the possibilities to deal with them.
CCD COE is an International Military Organization fully accredited by NATO by the decision of the North Atlantic Council on the 28th of October 2008. The Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence mission is to enhance the cooperative cyber defence capability of NATO and NATO nations, thus inproving the Alliance's interoperability in the field of cooperative cyber defence. The centre was founded on the 14th of May 2008 by seven Sponsoring Nations (Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovak Republic, Spain).
